Thunder Bay KOA Kampground & Resort has been awarded the 2016 KOA President's Award by Kampgrounds of America Inc., an award that Thunder Bay KOA has received since the award was first presented in 2003.
The President's Award is proudly presented to KOA kampgrounds that excel in providing great camping facilities and consistently high levels of customer service. Chosen by KOA's camping guests through satisfaction surveys and KOA's own stringent quality inspections, recipients of the President's award are dedicated to great KOA camping.
Thunder Bay KOA also received the 2016 Founder's Award. Dave Drum, founder of KOA, was an extraordinary visionary and dreamer. The recipients of KOA's premier achievement, the Founder's Award, share Dave's dream of providing the highest quality camping facilities while exceeding KOA guests' expectations. As leaders in outdoor hospitality, Founder's Award recipients embody Dave's vision of a KOA nation providing excellence for generations of campers.
Open April 15 to October 15
Make our KOA campground your headquarters to experience the natural beauty
of nearby Lake Superior and the region's attractions.
Go rockhounding at open-pit amethyst mines. Explore 130-foot Kakabeka Falls
and Ouimet Canyon. Relive area history at Fort William Historical Park,
a re-created 1815 trading post complete with costumed natives, trappers
and traders, and at the Centennial Park 1910 Logging Camp.
Camp amongst Thunder Bay KOA's 90 acres of spruce, birch and poplar which
shimmer with color in autumn. Our campsites are tucked in the trees
and in wide-open sunshine. We have camping cabins & *NEW* lodges
available as well. Hayrides, ice cream socials and other planned activities add to the fun in season.
